STEP 01: LOWER PIVOT ARMS
- Parts: Bed Cabinet Ends (LOWER SECTION)
- Hardware: Lower Pivot Arms (2x), 2” Bolts (photo2), Nylock Nuts (BC1 Box)
- Tools: 5mm Allen Wrench, Impact Driver with 1/2" Socket Bit
- Attach each Lower Pivot Arm (LPA) to the [LBCE] on the side with pin holes, extending past the front (edgebanded) edge. Tighten bolts until they countersink into the opposite face.

STEP 02: ASSEMBLE BED CABINET ENDS
Tools: Impact Driver with #2 Square Bit
Hardware: 1.25” Wood Screws (20x)
Parts: 4, 5, 63, 65, 64|66
Lay part 4 with 63 and 5 with 65 on the floor, mirrored left and right, with pin holes facing up and LPA positioned inward toward the center. Align front edges. Place one of 64|66 on top of each set of ends, above the LPA, and secure with 10 screws per side through pre-drilled pilot holes in 64|66. Drive each screw until it is fully countersunk — flush with or slightly below the surface. This completes the Bed Cabinet End Assemblies (BCEAs)

STEP 03: PREPARE BED CABINET FOR ASSEMBLY
Tools: Adjustable Torque Drill with #2 Phillips Bit
Hardware: Pins, Cams
Parts: BCEAs (From Step 2), 60, 2, 7, 61
Insert Cams into the 15mm holes in 60, 2, and 7. Insert Cams into one side of 6 and screw Pins into the other side. Screw Pins into the 5mm holes in each BCEA (see Pin Instructions). Do not insert Pins or Cams into 61.

STEP 04: SECURE REAR VALANCE TO BED CABINET TOP
Tools: #3 Phillips Screwdriver
Hardware: Pins, Cams
Parts: 6, 2
Attach 2 along the back edge of 6, forming an L shape. Ensure the cams in 2 face the outside of the L. (Tip: If the cams are facing inside the L instead of outward, 2 is backwards.) Tighten cams securely (see Cam Instructions).

STEP 05: ATTACH VALANCE TO HEADBOARD
Tools: Impact Driver with #2 Square Bit
Hardware: 1.25” Wood Screws (4x)
Parts: 61, 60
Align 61 on top of 60 with pilot holes matched. Secure 61 to the back of 60 using 4 screws, starting with the outermost holes for proper alignment (see Screw Instructions).

STEP 06: ATTACH TOP, HEADBOARD, AND FRONT TOE TO ONE BCEA
Tools: #3 Phillips Screwdriver
Hardware: Pins and Cams (Previously Installed)
Parts: BCEAs, TOP ASSEMBLY (STEP 4), HB ASSEMBLY (STEP 5), 7
Attach 7, TOP ASSEMBLY, and HB ASSEMBLY to one BCEA. Hold each piece/assembly steady while tightening the cams (see Cam Instructions).

STEP 07: ATTACH SECOND BCEA
Tools: #3 Phillips Screwdriver
Hardware: Pins and Cams (Previously Installed)
Parts: BCEAs, TOP ASSEMBLY (STEP 4), HB ASSEMBLY (STEP 5), 7
With a helper, carefully lift the second BCE Assembly, flipping it pins-down. Lower the pins into the TOP ASSEMBLY first, then 60 and 7. Tighten cams (see Cam Instructions).

STEP 08: STAND THE BED CABINET UPRIGHT
With a helper, carefully lift and rotate the bed cabinet onto its face, then stand it up into place. Ensure the bottom edges rest on a blanket or padded surface to prevent damage

STEP 09: SECURE THE BED CABINET TO THE WALL
Tools: Stud Finder, Tape, Impact Driver/Drill, #2 Square Bit
Hardware: “L” Brackets (2” X 2”), 3/4” Screws, 1 3/4” Wood Screws
Parts: BED CABINET (STEPS 1-8)
- Use a stud finder to locate and mark 3 studs.
- Secure the L Brackets to the top of the Bed Cabinet using 6x 3/4” screws.
- Attach the L Brackets to the studs using 6x 1 3/4” screws (2 per stud).
SAFETY WARNING: The bed cabinet must be securely attached to wall studs before proceeding. Failure to do so may result in structural failure and injury. DO NOT use drywall anchors or toggle bolts alone. If securing to steel studs, concrete, or another material, use appropriate fasteners (not included). Confirm the cabinet is firmly secured before proceeding.

STEP 10: PREPARE ONE PIVOTING BOOKCASE FOR ASSEMBLY
Tools: Adjustable Torque Drill with #2 Phillips Bit
Hardware: Pins and Cams (25 per bookcase)
Parts (ONE OF EACH): 08|21|37|49, 09|22|38|50, 10|23|39|51, 11|24|40|52, 12|25|41|53, 13|26|42|54, 14|27|43|55
- Lay out one set of 7 cabinet parts on a moving blanket or a soft, flat surface, with the bottom edges of the ends closest to the bed cabinet/wall.
- Insert cams into the 15mm pre-drilled holes on each bookcase part (See Cam Instructions).
- Screw pins into the pre-drilled holes on (09|22|38|50) Left End and (10|23|39|51) Right End, avoiding the adjustable shelf pin holes (sets of 5 pairs of holes).
Note: The small holes on the back of (11|24|40|52) Interior Backs are NOT pin holes—they are pilot holes for wood screws (see Step 15).

STEP 11: ATTACH VALANCE TO TOP AND INSTALL TOP
Tools: #3 Phillips Screwdriver
Hardware: Pins and Cams (Previously Installed)
Parts (ONE OF EACH): 08|21|37|49, 12|25|41|53
- Attach (08|21|37|49) Valance to (12|25|41|53) Top and tighten cam (see Cam Instructions).
- Secure this Top Assembly to one of the Ends, aligning it along the top edge of the End (see Cam Instructions).

STEP 12: ATTACH HORIZONTAL PARTITION AND DECK
Tools: #3 Phillips Screwdriver
Hardware: Pins and Cams (Previously Installed)
Parts (ONE OF EACH): 14|27|43|55, 13|26|42|54
With the same End used in step 11 still lying flat, attach the (14|27|43|55) Horizontal Partition and(13|26|42|54) Deck, ensuring the cams face the bottom of the bookcase. Hold them steady while tightening the cams (see Cam Instructions).

STEP 13: ATTACH INTERIOR BACK
Tools: #3 Phillips Screwdriver
Hardware: Pins and Cams (Previously Installed)
Parts (ONE OF EACH): 11|24|40|52
Lower one (11|24|40|52) Interior Back onto the pins of the End, ensuring the cams face the opposite side of the already-installed parts. Align the pre-started pilot holes in the back with the (14|27|43|55) Horizontal Partition before tightening the cams (see Cam Instructions).

STEP 14: ATTACH SECOND END
Tools: #3 Phillips Screwdriver
Hardware: Pins and Cams (Previously Installed)
Parts: Remaining End
With a helper, carefully lift the remaining End, flipping it pins-down. Gently lower the 12 pins into theTop & Valance first, then into the Interior Back, Horizontal Partition & Deck.Tighten all 12 cams. Use a short screwdriver to tighten the cam behind the Valance (see Cam Instructions).

STEP 15: REINFORCE THE BOOKCASE
IMPORTANT – DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP
Tools: Impact Driver with #2 Square Bit
Hardware: 1 3/4” Wood Screws (6 Per Bookcase)
Secure each (11|24|40|52) Interior Back with six wood screws per bookcase:
- Two screws into (12|25|41|53) Top
- Two screws into (14|27|43|55) Horizontal Partition
- Two screws into (13|26|42|54) Deck
This reinforcement is crucial for stability—do not skip this step!

STEP 16: REPEAT FOR REMAINING BOOKCASES
Repeat Steps 10–15 for the three remaining bookcases to complete the full assembly.
STEP 17: ATTACH HINGE PLATES TO DECK/TOP PARTS
Tools: Impact Driver/Drill, #2 Phillips Bit
Hardware (FROM BC1 BOX): 16x 3/4” Wood Screws, 4 Hinge Plates
Parts: 62, 59, 19, 32
- Align hinge plates on parts 62, 59, 19, 32 using the pre-drilled holes.
- Ensure the large hole in the hinge plate aligns with the large hole in the Deck.
- This should position plates approximately 3/16” from the front edge and 9/16” from the side edge.
- Secure each plate with four screws.

STEP 18 ATTACH TOPS & BOTTOMS (“DECKS”)
Tools: Impact Driver/Drill, #2 Square Bit
Hardware: 1 1/4” Wood Screws (16x)
Parts: 62, 59, 19, 32, 20|31|47|48
INSTALLATION METHOD:
1. Lay each bookcase on its back to make installation easier.
2. Position and clamp the Deck/Top (62, 59, 20|31|47|48, 19, 32) in place.
3. Ensure correct hinge plate orientation:
4. When the bookcases are on their backs, the hinge plate on the top of the left bookcase will be atthe top-right corner, and vice versa for the right bookcase.
5. Secure each Deck/Top with four screws.
ALIGNMENT DETAILS:
- The largest hole should be positioned as close to the outside and front edges as possible on the outer cabinets.
- This large hole must align with the large hole in the black hinge plates installed in Step 17.
- Inner cabinets: Deck orientation is not critical.
DECK IDENTIFICATION FOR PROPER PLACEMENT:
- Top Left (32) & Top Right (59) Decks have two extra holes near the center.
- Bottom Left (19) & Bottom Right (62) Decks have one extra hole.
- Deck Centers (20|31|47|48) have only four holes used to secure them to the Top/Deck with 1.25” screws.
- Ensure hinge plate-drilled decks are in their correct locations:
- (32) Top Left
- (19) Bottom Left
- (62) Bottom Right
- (59) Top Right
Refer to the illustrations and video for visual guidance

STEP 19: ATTACH THE PIANO HINGES (ZIG-ZAG PATTERN)
Tools: Impact Driver/Drill, #2 Square Bit
Hardware: 3/4” Wood Screws (72x), 72” Piano Hinges (2x)
- Lay the four bookcases face-down on a soft, flat surface in pairs, ensuring no blanket or carpet is pinched between them.
- Position a 72” Piano Hinge precisely centered along the Ends of each pair of adjoining bookcases, 3.75” from the top of the bookcases.
- Attach the hinges using the zig-zag pattern:
- Insert screws into every other hole on each side, offset by one hole.
- Start by centering one end, securing it with two screws.
- Center and secure the other end, then the middle.
- Keep the hinge centered as each screw is inserted.
Installer Tip:
Before drilling, tap down on the back of your drill to make a small indentation with the point of each screw—this helps with precise placement.
🚨 Be careful to avoid screwing into a pin.

STEP 20 INSTALL THE BOOKCASES
Tools: Adjustable Torque Drill, 1/2” Socket Bit, 5mm Allen Wrench / Hex Key
Hardware (FROM BC1 BOX): Brass Bushings (2x), Upper Pivot Arms (2x), 1 1/2” Bolts & Nylock Nuts (6x)
Preparation:
- Ensure the brass bushings are installed on the lower pivot arms before proceeding.
- Lay out the 1 1/2” bolts, nylock nuts, and two upper pivot arms on top of the Bed Cabinet, keeping the left arm on the left and the right arm on the right.
Installing the Bookcases:
- With a helper, fold one pair of cabinets and roll them onto their piano hinge side.
- Line up the bottom hinge plate with the lower pivot pin.
- Have the helper lift from the end while you align the holes.
- Slowly stand the bookcase upright until it drops onto the pin, then have the helper balance it in place.
🚨 Note: The bookcase assembly is heavy—an extra helper is recommended.
Securing the Top Pivot Arm:
- On a ladder, insert the pivot pin into the top hinge plate while your helper holds the bookcase in place.
- Using a 1/2” socket and 5mm hex key, secure the upper pivot arm to the side of the Bed Cabinet.
Repeat for Second Bookcase Assembly
🔧 Alignment Note: If the bookcases are misaligned, don’t worry—this will be addressed in Step 25.

STEP 21: PREPARE THE FASCIA FOR ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION
Tools: Adjustable Torque Drill, #2 Phillips Bit
Hardware: Pins and Cams
Parts: 1, 03|18 , 33|34
- Lay out the 5 fascia parts on a flat surface as shown.
- Insert pins into the pin holes in the (1) Valance [Top Front Fascia].
- Insert cams into their pre-drilled holes in the (03|18) Nailer [Side Fascias].
Ensure all pins and cams are correctly positioned before moving on to assembly.

STEP 22: INSTALL THE FASCIA
Tools: Clamps, Impact Drill/Driver, #2 Square Drive, #3 Phillips Screwdriver
Hardware: 1 1/4” Wood Screws
Parts: 1, 03|18, 6
- Attach Side Fascias:
- On a ladder, use 2 clamps to position each (03|18) Right & Left 4” Fascia against the Bed Cabinet, with the cam on the upper side.
- Ensure the back/wall edge is flush with the top of the Bed Cabinet, and the front sits just above flush.
- Secure each (03|18) Fascia using two 1 1/4” screws per side.
- Attach the Top Front Fascia:
- On a ladder, use a #3 Phillips Screwdriver to secure (1) Top Front Fascia to the (03|18) Right & Left Fascia and to the (6) Top.
- Tighten cams in (6) Top—a short screwdriver may be needed for acces

STEP 23: INSTALL THE NAILERS/FILLERS
Tools: Clamps, Impact Drill/Driver, #2 Square Drive, Rubber Mallet
Hardware: 1 1/4” Wood Screws
Parts: 33|34
- Position the Nailer/Filler:
- On a ladder, use a rubber mallet to position a (33|34) 3” x 9” Nailer/Filler between the (03|18) 4” Side Fascia and the (6) Bridge–Top.
- Ensure the Side Fascia is flush with the bottom of the Bridge–Top.
2. Secure the Nailer/Filler:
- Use two 1 1/4” screws to attach the Nailer/Filler to the Side Fascia:
- One screw above the pivot arm
- One screw between the pivot arm and the front edge
🔹 Note: The bottom edge of the Nailers should be flush with the bottom of (6) Top of the Bed Cabinet.

STEP 24: ASSEMBLE AND INSTALL THE “T”
Tools: Clamps, Adjustable Torque Drill, #2 Phillips Bit, #2 Square Bit
Hardware: Pins and Cams, 1 1/4” Wood Screws (3x)
Parts: 35|36
Assemble the “T”
- Join the two (35|36) boards using pins and cams to form a “T” shape.
- Ensure the cams are not visible—they should face the bookcase when installed.
Install the “T”
- Clamp the assembled “T” to the right set of bookcases.
- Secure the “T” to the bookcase using three 1 1/4” wood screws, driving them from inside the cabinet:
- One screw behind the Valance
- One just below the Horizontal Partition
- One just above the Deck
🔹 Note: If the “T” Assembly pushes the bookcases open, square up the bookcases and install the large magnets in the following steps to resolve the issue.

STEP 25: SQUARE-UP THE BOOKCASES
Tools: Rubber Mallet (if necessary)
- Check the alignment of the center bookcases at the top.
- If they are not flush, gently nudge the bed cabinet toward the higher side.
- Use a rubber mallet or
- Lightly press the bed cabinet with your foot to shift it into alignment.
- Continue adjusting until the bookcases are flush at the top.

STEP 26: INSTALL THE LARGE MAGNETS
Tools: Adjustable Torque Drill, #1 Phillips Bit
Hardware: Large Magnets, Plates, and Accompanying Screws

- Position two magnets on top of the Front Toe:
- One about 1–2 inches left of the center gap.
- One about 1–2 inches right of the center gap.
- Open the left bookcase. Install the right magnet on the Front Toe and install the matching metal plate vertically on the back of the bookcase (long side up and down).
- Open the right bookcase. Install the left magnet and install the second metal plate vertically on the back of the other bookcase.
Installing the plates vertically prevents the screws from interfering with the magnets and ensures proper function. The magnets help keep the bookcases securely closed.

STEP 27: INSTALL THE SMALL FLAT MAGNETS
Tools: Adjustable Torque Drill, #1 Phillips Bit
Hardware: Small Flat Magnets, Accompanying Screws, Adhesive Strips
- Position each magnet on the back edge of the bookcases, opposite the piano hinge, about halfway up (just above the center cam).
- Position halfway up, just above the center cam.
- Mount each magnet and plate in a "+" shape to avoid screw interference.
- Use adhesive strips to hold in place, then secure with screws (pilot holes optional).
🔹 Keeps bookcases flush when fully opened.

STEP 28: INSTALL THE ADJUSTABLE SHELVES
Hardware: Adjustable Shelf Pins
Parts: 15, 16, 17 | 28, 29, 30 | 44, 45, 46 | 56, 57, 58
- Insert four adjustable shelf pins into the pre-drilled 5mm holes at the desired height.
- Place the adjustable shelves onto the pins.
- Repeat for all shelves, adjusting as needed for preferred spacing.
🔹 Shelves can be repositioned at any time by moving the shelf pins.

STEP 29: INSTALL GOOSE-NECK LED LIGHTS (IF APPLICABLE)
Tools: Drill with 5/64” Bit, #2 Phillips Bit
Hardware/Parts: Lighting Kit (2 Goose-Neck Lights, Transformer, Splitter, Power Cord)
Mount the Lights:
- Remove the round plastic cover from the front of each light’s base to expose the screw holes.
- Position the lights on (4 & 5) each side panel at the desired location.
- Drill a pilot hole for the first screw using a 5/64” bit.
- Secure the light with one provided wood screw using a #2 Phillips Bit.
- Hold the light at the desired angle, drill pilot holes for the remaining two screws, and secure the light with the remaining screws.
Connect the Wiring:
- Drop the light cords behind the HB.
- Plug the light cords into the splitter, then connect the splitter to the transformer.
- Use twist-ties to take up any slack.
- After the bed frame is assembled, plug the power cord into the transformer, then into a power outlet or an extension cord.
🔹 If the outlet is behind the bed, use a flat-plug extension cord to prevent interference when raising and lowering the bed frame.
STEP 30: INSTALL THE SIDE TOES (OPTIONAL)
Tools: Impact Driver, #2 Square Bit
Hardware: (3x) 1 ¾” Wood Screws
Parts: (2x) Side Toes
The Side Toes are optional and help visually cover the seam between the upper and lower sections of the Bed Cabinet Ends. Note: Removing them later will leave screw holes in the Bed Cabinet Ends.
Installation:
- Open the Bookcases.
- Have a helper hold the Side Toes against the outside of the Bed Cabinet.
- Secure them using 1 ¾” screws through the BotBrace and Ends. A helper will make it easier to keep the Side Toes properly aligned while fastening.
STEP 31: ASSEMBLE & INSTALL THE BED FRAME
Tools: See Frame Instructions
Hardware: Frame Hardware Cards
Position the Frame:
Center the bed frame inside the bed cabinet, ensuring it is aligned left-to-right.
Position the frame as far from the wall as possible, keeping it as close to the Front Toe as possible.
If wall-mounting the frame, remove any quarter-round molding, if applicable.
Installation Notes:
Spring covers (if included) do NOT need to be installed in your Library Bed.

CAUTION: HIGH SPRING TENSION — READ BEFORE PROCEEDING
The lift springs are under extreme tension. Mishandling them during installation or removal can cause serious injury.
The bed frame must be in the vertical (closed) position.
The frame must be securely fastened to the wall.
Failure to follow these steps may result in the frame snapping forward or components releasing suddenly.
Install Initial Springs:
With the frame secured to the wall and in the vertical (closed) position, attach the springs one at a time according to the instructions.
Do not force or stretch springs beyond their normal arc.
Ensure each spring is fully seated and secure before releasing tension.
Insert only 2 springs initially, using Large Vise-Grips (Locking Pliers).
After placing the mattress onto the bed frame, install the remaining needed springs.
